Little Xmas Party at Petra's
Today we had our annual Xmas party for girls. We drank glögg, ate cheeses, gingerbreads, sweets and cheese balls.

Christmas shopping
I'm pretty tired right now. Yesterday I was at home only 12 o'clock. After the theatre we had one drink and some snacks at Memphis. This morning I was really tired. Chris woke up already at six o'clock.
Now he went to a little Xmas party with his ex-colleagues. I should go early to bed as I'm going to visit my grandmom tomorrow in Lohja. She said that we could have lunch together. Maybe she wishes to go shopping as well.
Antti invited me to his place to have some drinks, but unfortunately I'm too tired for any social life at this very moment.
I did some Christmas shopping today. I found nice things for Elina and for the cats. Actually Piki and Pörri already got some treats that I bought today. There were lot of people in town and I can imagine how it is on next Friday, as I'm going to do the majority of my Christmas shopping.
I'm planning to have Christmas tree here in few days. I still need to find that silver decoration stuff that one wraps around the tree.
Paula left to Shanghai today. She is going to do some shopping there until Tuesday. She visits Shanghai many times a year as she really likes to shop there. I can imagine that it must be great fun.

About Pörri
I talked with the neurologist yesterday and I asked her lot of questions about Pörri and the conditions she might have: epilepsy and vestibular syndrome.
Pörri has been ok, for the past week. It is very hard to give her the epilepsy medicine (phenobarbital) as she must take it twice a day. It is a tiny pill and it can be dissolved in water. We first gave it to her with the food, but after few times she did not want to eat the food with the medicine any more, so we had to spray it to her mouth. It went "fine" for a while, although she clawed us more or less everytime as Chris held her still. Today she knew that she was going to have the medicine and she totally paniced and clawed us both like never before. Luckily she was very hungry this morning and she ate the medicine with the food. I guess we have to vary the techiniques once and a while.
It is very important to give her the medicine every 12 hours, otherwise she might get a sirious seizure.
I asked the neurologist about a special diet too. She told me that ketogenic diet might help, as some results indicate so in the studys of human epilepsy.
If Pörri's seizures are caused by Vestibular syndrome (idiopathic vestibular syndrome), then there is nothing we can do about it. It's not fatal and it should go away by it self. So, if Pörri gets one of those seizures in the near future and it last a long time, it could be vestibular, as she should not have long lasting epileptic seisurez beeing on phenobarbital. (If that happens I think we still have to take her to vet, to make sure.)
In the many tests they did, they could not find any other cause for the seizures, than the idiopathic epilepsy or idiopathic vestibular syndrome. Idiopathic epilepsy is the term used for seizures that appear to have no other cause. Symptomatic epilepsy refers to seizures caused by an underlying condition.

Aktiivinen ilta
Olen ollut hyvin aktiivinen koko illan. Olen siivonnut ahkerasti ja järkännyt tavaroita. Olkkarissa tehtiin pieni muutos, kun korkea dvd-telineenä toiminut hylly päätettiin laittaa vaakatasoon ja sen päälle tv ja muu elektroniikka. Kokonaisuus on nyt paljon parempi.
Huomenna olen menossa Tanjan kanssa Kansallisteatteriin katsomaan "Kutsumattomia Vieraita". Perjantaina menen keskustaan manikyyriin ja lauantaina käymään mummilla. Sunnuntaina on tyttöjen pikkujoulut Petran luona. Ohjelmaa siis riittää. Ensi viikolla yritän rentoutua ja valmistella jouluherkkuja. Olen ajatellut tehdä peruna- ja lanttulaatikkoa vähän, sekä tietysti pipareita ja ehkä jouluisia suklaamakeisia. Ajattelin kokeilla kotikaljan tekoa. Löysin myös sinappisillin ohjeen ja koska en ole silliä ikinä tehnyt voisi sitäkin tehdä. Joulua vietämme Paulan ja Artin luona Marjaniemessä, joten ei hirveästi kannata jouluruokia tehdä, koska siellä niitä tulee olemaan varmasti runsaasti.
Vapaa-aikaa tulee nyt seuraavat neljä viikkoa olemaan niin paljon, että on pakko jo etukäteen keksiä tekemistä.

Christmas holiday, FINALLY!
My Christmas holiday from school started today after we had talked about our project work with our business course teacher. Our project work got really high marks and we were all very happy about it.
We did the final presentation yesterday. There was lots and lots work with that and glad it's now done.
I have been a bit surpriced how well my school has started as I did not except it to go this well. Marks I've received so far are for (Kansantaloustiede) political economics 4 and (Yritystoiminnan perusteet) business basic studies 4. I still don't no the marks for Business English (it went really well, I got 5 from the mega marketing trend essay), (Viestintä) Communication has been ok the last assigment went also quite fine, I got 4 1/2 from it. Then there is still (Tietojenkäsittely) IT, which has been ok so far, but don't know the results for the last exam. The last exam was about Excel and access.
The marks are from 1 to 5. 5 beeing the best you can get.

Today we went to downtown for some shopping and to see the christmas decorations. We also went to Esplanadi to see the Christmas market. We did not find anything at all. We bought cat food and went to eat at Satkar.

Pörrin diagnoosi
Pörri oli tänään lääkärissä tutkimuksissa. Pörrin aivosähkökäyrä oli normaali, eikä päästä löytynyt mitään epänormaalia. Lääkäri epäili, että Pörrillä olisi mahdollisesti epilepsia. Pörri alkaa nyt syömään epilepsia lääkitystä. Toivottavasti se auttaa!

Pörrillä taas kohtaus
Pörrillä oli taas kohtaus. Tällä kertaa se kesti lähes yhden vuorokauden. Soitin kahdesti päivystykseen ja sain ajan huomiseksi klo 9. Pörri menee aamulla neurologisiin tutkimuksiin.
Toivotaan että Pörri saadaan kuntoon.

Baking a carrot cake
I continued relaxing in the kitchen by baking a carrot cake.
Kakkupohjaan:
4 kananmunaa
3 dl sokeria
3 dl vehnäjauhoja
2 tl ruokasoodaa
1,5 tl leivinjauhetta
2 tl kanelia
1 tl vanilliinisokeria
0,5 tl suolaa
4 kpl porkkanaa
1,5 dl öljyä
Täyte:
400 g tuorejuustoa (esim.
maustamaton hovi)
1,5 dl tomusokeria
1 tl vanilliinisokeria
1 appelsiinin mehu
Raasta porkkanat hienoksi raasteeksi.
Vispaa sokeri ja kananmunat kuohkeaksi.
Sekoita kuivat ainekset keskenään.
Lisää sokeri-kananmunavaahtoon porkkanaraaste, kuivat aineet ja öljy.
Paista kakkuvuoassa alimmalla tasolla 190 asteessa noin 45 min. Älä avaa uunia liian aikaisin - muuten kakku lässähtää.
Kumoa kakku vuoasta, kun se on täysin jäähtynyt.
Vispaa tuorejuusto, tomusokeri, vanilliinisokeri ja appelsiinin mehu.
Levitä kuorrutus jäähtyneen kakun päälle.
Anna jäähtyä jääkaapissa muutaman tunnin.
Kokki nauttii välillä lasillisen rentouttavaa kuohujuomaa..
Herkullinen lopputulos.

Today I have been relaxing by making gourmé food.
I started with some sushi.
Boiling the rice is the most important thing, when making sushi, the rice must be cooked right.
For making and eating makisushi one needs: Japanese rice vinegar, nori=dried sea weed, gari= sweet pickeled ginger, rice, wasabi paste and...
avocado, salmon, fish eggs, mango (fresh is the best, if you can get it), cucumber...
The rice is cooked and chilled. The rice vinegar, salt and sugar are added. The avocado, mango, cucumber and salmon are sliced. There is a cup of water to wet your finger so that the rice won't stick too much...
The rice is spread. A small amont of wasabi is used on top of the rice to give a little kick to it.
The filling is added.
Use a little water to glue the nori roll.
Roll it.
Cut the roll.
Serve it and
enjoy!
