Your cat's true indentity

Pörri is:

Former Incarnation: Winnie the Pooh

Aliases: Snooky, Poohsticks, Woozel, Droopy, Munchie, Snugglebuns, Shoo-shoo, Furball

Description: Subject can be identified by its vulnerable and cuddly nature. Subject can generally be found on a lap or in any location that promises snuggling and adoration. When it cannot find a human heating pad to sleep on, it can be spotted sprawled out in awarm, sunny spot. Subject can be needy and demanding. Subject is a member of the new twelve step program, Codependent Cats (CC). It is loyal and will most likely add a light layer of fur to all of your clothes. Has a knack for knitting, kneading, and baking blueberry pies. Meows frequently and happily, and may be caught singing silly songs to itself. Prefers light reading and children's books. Dreams of moving to an amusement park.

Piki is:

Former Incarnation: Christopher Columbus

Aliases: Windy, Homer, Vasco, Bosco, Griffy, The Wanderer, Sailor, Soldier, Trek

Description: Subject has been clinically diagnosed with wanderlust. Do not let this cat out of sight, or it is guaranteed to disappear for extended periods. Subject on occassion has been sighted up to five miles from home. Can be lured back with food or shiny coins, but loyalty is short-lived. If kept in cramped space for too long, this cat will go crazy. Naps infrequently and dreams of former life as deckhand on Tahitian schooner. Subject can read maps, but hides this skill from owners for fear of punishment. Prefers traveling alone, unless joined by fellow explorers. Is not very social, unless recounting adventures to eager listeners or planning its next escape from domestic imprisonment. Is good for a snuggle, but only when exhausted at the end of the day. May search for buried treasure in garbage sites. Meows in foreign languages. Probably owns ragged-ear copy of Robinson Catsoe.

Kisu is:

Former Incarnation: Mickey Mouse

Aliases: Hyper Harry, Sparky, Jumpster, Fiesta, Sporto, Air Jordan, Squeaker

Description: Subject has not been spotted being motionless for more than a millisecond. Clear identification of the subject's appearance is difficult due to its quick moves and escape tactics. Subject is former star player of the Feline Soccer League. May have mild case of Attention Deficit Disorder, and prefers its music and videos played in fast-forward. Is avid jogger. Subject has a talent for taking everyday household items and transforming them into athletic equipment. Reads feline sports magazines such as Cat Sports."

Friday's wine

Today's wine is Australian Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon.

Alko's description of the wine

Runsaanpunainen; hieman kehittynyt

Tuoksu: aromikas

Maku: erittäin täyteläinen, notkea, lihaisa, mausteinen, hennon tamminen

Rypäleet: Shiraz (78 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (22 %)

From a German wine site:

Beschreibung:

My opinion is that the wine is good has a soft and warm taste and is easy to drink.

My mom's operation

I came just back from my mom's. She had an eye surgery done on Wednesday and she is now recovering from it. The surgery itself went fine but that is not all of it. For five days she needs to keep her head down eyes towards the floor. She also needs to sleep on her tummy. The success of the surgery depends on the position treatment she now has to do. She can't watch TV, can't be on the computer. She could read with the healthy eye, but she said that it's kind of hard. The operated eye is completely swollen and she can't really open it at the moment. I hope she can manage through the last three days that are left.
Seppo is coming from Spain on Saturday night.
My mom can't fly as long as the gas bubble is in her eye, the eye would explode.
They put gas in to her eye to replace the jellylike substance. The surgery was done because the retina in my mom's eye was detached. If the surgery had not been done the eye would have gone completely blind with the time.

I need a break

Today I have been feeling like I'm not going to make till May 15th.

My day started with a headache that lasted almost until the end of the working day. I had pretty busy day at work and I'm continually learning new stuff as I have changed my work assignment. Learning at work, at school, at weekends, after the work and after the school. I have to say that I'm totally exhausted. I'm just waiting the easter break. After that it is not so long until the summer break starts.

If I can just handle this all till then..

And another test

The coctail test:

Eveliina, you're a Southern Sparkler

The bottom line is — you're a complete prize. Just like the South, you've got that fun, sweet, charming personality that immediately draws people to you. It appears that you embrace each moment fully and love to have a good time. You've got a gift for lightening up the mood with your silly sense of humor and with the unique levity with which you approach life.

Let's not forget to mention your skills in the romance department — you've got the flirty moves that can attract anyone you've got your eye on. It's as if you cast your spell and there's just nothing left for the victim to do but fall for you completely. It's a great talent to have! And once people know you, they fall even further for your sweet, kind-hearted, caring ways that make you someone everyone wants to have around. So maybe it's time to order a cocktail that can complement your charm.

I feel so good about myself now!

Monday again

I've have been studying since I got home from work. I have a pretty big task to do as I have been writing one marketing assignment and doing a memo about it too.

Now that I've almost done with it I relaxed by doing a test.

Here are the results:

Eveliina, your eyes say you're Sincerely Sweet

Kind and genuine, you're the sort of gal who's always looking out for others and being a great friend. You have a big heart and can't help but open it up to those you're close with. When you're that pretty on the inside, you can't help but be beautiful on the outside, too.

When it comes to makeup, you like to keep things light and low-key. But that doesn't mean you don't enjoy getting dolled up on special occasions. And when you do, we'd guess you only add to your already sparkling and sweet self. You glow girl!

Happy Women's Day!

Iloista naistenpäivää!
ABOUT INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900's, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

1908
Great unrest and critical debate was occurring amongst women. Women's oppression and inequality was spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. Then in 1908, 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights.

1909
In accordance with a declaration by the Socialist Party of America, the first National Woman's Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on 28 February. Women continued to celebrate NWD on the last Sunday of February until 1913.

1910
At a Socialist International meeting in Copenhagen, an International Women's Day of no fixed date was proposed to honour the women's rights movement and to assist in achieving universal suffrage for women. Over 100 women from 17 countries unanimously agreed the proposal. 3 of these women were later elected the first women to the Finnish parliament.

1911
Following the decision agreed at Copenhagen in 1911, International Women's Day (IWD) was honoured the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on 19 March. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination. However less than a week later on 25 March, the tragic 'Triangle Fire' in New York City took the lives of more than 140 working women, most of them Italian and Jewish immigrants. This disastrous event drew significant attention to working conditions and labour legislation in the United States that became a focus of subsequent International Women's Day events. 1911 also saw women's 'Bread and Roses' campaign.

1913-1914
On the eve of World War I campaigning for peace, Russian women observed their first International Women's Day on the last Sunday in February 1913. In 1914 further women across Europe held rallies to campaign against the war and to express women's solidarity.

1917
On the last Sunday of February, Russian women began a strike for "bread and peace" in response to the death over 2 million Russian soldiers in war. Opposed by political leaders the women continued to strike until four days later the Czar was forced to abdicate and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote. The date the women's strike commenced was Sunday 23 February on the Julian calendar then in use in Russia. This day on the Gregorian calendar in use elsewhere was 8 March.

1918 - 1999
Since its birth in the socialist movement, International Women's Day has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration across developed and developing countries alike. For decades, IWD has grown from strength to strength annually. For many years the United Nations has held an annual IWD conference to coordinate international efforts for women's rights and participation in social, political and economic processes. 1975 was designated as 'International Women’s Year' by the United Nations. Women's organisations and governments around the world have also observed IWD annually on 8 March by holding large-scale events that honour women's advancement and while diligently reminding of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that women's equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life.

2000 - 2007
IWD is now an official holiday in Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. The tradition sees men honouring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc with flowers and small gifts. In some countries IWD has the equivalent status of Mother's Day where children give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers.
The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women's and society's thoughts about women's equality and emancipation. Many from a younger generation feel that 'all the battles have been won for women' while many feminists from the 1970's know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. With more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women's visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, one could think that women have gained true equality. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women's education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men.

However, great improvements have been made. We do have female astronauts and prime ministers, school girls are welcomed into university, women can work and have a family, women have real choices. And so the tone and nature of IWD has, for the past few years, moved from being a reminder about the negatives to a celebration of the positives.

I'm an Espresso

You Are an Espresso

At your best, you are: straight shooting, ambitious, and energetic

At your worst, you are: anxious and high strung

You drink coffee when: anytime you're not sleeping

Your caffeine addiction level: high

So, I'm an Espresso..

I don't drink coffee any time, only one big mug in the morning...But I do need my one portion in a day. In a special occasion I might drink coffee other times too and make some Espresso with our own Espresso machine..but that happens rather rarely.

Studying like mad

I have spend yesterday and today studying. I feel like my brains are boiling at the moment. Just finished a marketing assignment and did also a second accounting assignment today. The first I did yesterday. It is just crazy that I spend something like four hours doing one assignment. I still haven't done any of the math and neither have I studied for Swedish exam which is tomorrow. I just don't feel like worrying about how it is going to go. I don't really think I need that high marks in Swedish.

Sirpa's 60th Birthday at Haikko mansion 2.3-3.3.

Here are some evidence from Sirpa's 60th birthday at Haikko mansion. We started partying at 1 pm as we arrived at Haikko mansion and had champagne with Sirpa. After that we ate a big salmon sandwich and had coffee with it. Then we were given rooms. After that we went to pool and sauna section to relax. We had drinks there and enjoyed jacuzzi, different pools and sauna.

In the evening at 7 pm we had amazing dinner and after that there was a surprise music performance by Pekka Wirman.

After dinner I was very tired but nobody was allowed to go to bed and we all went to night club, which was located in the cellar of the mansion. My mom, Sirpa and actually all the rest of the guests, all together 12 women were total party animals. Only me and Anniina were too "tired" to dance. We heard such great tunes as "Kaiken takana on nainen" and "Kuuntelen Tomppaa". You can imagine that Sirpa, my mom and other went totally nuts there.

Starting the week

Today I was in downtown as I went for my manicure. Elina who does my manicure is leaving and this was my last time as her customer. She is applying for university to study law. Last year she was really close to getting in, so this year she is trying even harder. She needs to read three books which means over 1000 pages and one time is not enough. She is planning to read those books nine times. That is lot of work!

After the manicure I went to Kamppi and bought some little things for myself.

I had to buy this from Blippo because it says Kuki-kit! And it is really cute too. Kuki is having her 7th birthday this week. I have to ask her which day she wants to party on the 28th or on the 1st. Her real birthday is on the 29th.

I bought these from Accessorize. In those two cute little packages are earrings. They are all presents to me. :0)

These I got from manicure Elina.

Easy Sunday

The whole weekend has been kinda easy. I have been studying quite much and yesterday we were downtown shopping and having dinner at Ananpurna.

I bought these boots. I have been trying to find boots that look ok but are not with high heels so that they are comfortable to use.

My holiday week from school is over and my first lesson is on Tuesday. Tomorrow I might not have so much to do. I have to participate on the discussion at marketing lesson, but it is in the Internet, so can do it any time I want. Tomorrow I will also have my manicure.

Today Timo Chris' friend visited us and we went to eat at Henrikki. I ate Chicken tortillas. They were ok but not as good as the Chateaubriand I had there before.

Chris and Timo leaving to Marjaniemi. They were supposed to go skiing there
